Keith Hall was convicted of the manslaughter of Rachel Wilson 19.
He killed her in 2002 but her case was unsolved until 2021.
Rachel Wilson went missing in 2002. Her remains were found 10 years later in 2012 in a ditch on farmland near Newham Hall Farm in Coulby Newham.
Keith Hall had been living off of her income as a prostitute at the time he killed her.
It was not stated at the trial how Rachel Wilson died. It wasn’t thought that she had been murdered where she was found. Due to the degree of decomposition her cause of death could not be determined.
He had kept a lock of her hair in his wallet.
In 2003 a 57-year-old man was arrested in relation to her murder but released.
In February 2016, a 57-year-old man was arrested again in connection with her murder. He had initially been arrested in 2014 and had been on bail since then.
In December 2019 it was reported that a 61-year-old man had been charged with her murder, living off the earnings of prostitution and perverting the course of justice. He denied her murder when he appeared at Newcastle Crown Court via video link from Durham Prison in January 2020.
Rachel Wilson was a prostitute at the time and had lived on Southfield Road in Middlesbrough. She was last seen in CCTV footage the day after she went missing in Middlesbrough at 3.30am on 31 May 2002.
She was also a known user of hard drugs including crack cocaine and heroin. She was said to have turned to prostitution to feed her drug habit about 18 months after becoming addicted.
The police said that they were looking at possible links between her murder and the murders of two other prostitutes, Donna Keogh 17 who went missing in 1998 and Vicky Glass 21 who vanished in September 2000 and was later found on moorland near Danby six weeks later.
Rachel Wilson was 5ft 5in tall, had blue eyes and long brown hair.
